SASSIT Award Winner 2018

Swann-Morton would like to congratulate Professor Mmampapatla Thomas Ramokgopa this years recipient of the South African Society of Surgeons in Training (SASSIT) Silver Scalpel award. Professor Ramokgopa is the Academic head for the University of the Witwatersrand, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery. He also holds Head of Department at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH) as well the unit head for Orthopaedic Trauma.

Sheffield Hallam University ODP Award 2018

This years ODP Award represented a bit of a milestone on more than one level. James Rowe should have become the tenth recipient of an award founded back in 2009 however he was only the Ninth. So why was this the case ? Well the answer is quite simple for as the Sheffield Hallam University ODP training transitioned to a three year Degree course from a two year Diploma there was actually no winner in 2017.This also means James became the first student to graduate from the degree course to win the Award.

Crest Award 2018

The recipient of the 2018 Cancer Research Excellence in Surgical Trials (CREST) Award is the Breast Surgery Team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, King’s Lynn. As a smaller District General Hospital in a rural area, it is impressive to see the high number of patients recruited across a portfolio of many breast cancer trials.

Medica 2018

Once again, decision makers of the international healthcare industry were “spoiled for choice” when it came to the themes at the world’s largest medical trade fair MEDICA and the internationally leading supplier trade fair COMPAMED in Düsseldorf. There were approximately 120,000 visitors over the 4 day event.

AfPP Residential ,York 2018

Swann-Morton will once again be supporting the now annual AfPP Residential event held at York University. To celebrate 60 years since AfPP founder Daisy Ayris was first inspired to establish the organisation during her visit to The Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) in the USA, the Residential Conference 2018 is open to AfPP members for only £60 per day of education.

In the Theatre with Sheffield Hallam University ODP's

There was a reversal in roles at Sheffield Hallam University when the Swann-Morton team took over the theatre training suite to create a stock of photographs to be used within their new online Sharps Safety Training programme set to be launched later this year.
