Guard, Prevent, Protect with the NEW Safety Scalpel with Retracting Guard by Swann-Morton.

The device is modelled with the look and ergonomics of the Swann-Morton blue disposable scalpel, whilst incorporating active, safety-engineered features. The blade comes fixed and preloaded on a formed plastic handle, covered with a retractable safety guard, which protects the blades cutting edge.

The transparent guard, which displays the trademarked Swann-Morton ring pattern, can be retracted down the handle to expose the blade for use and re-sheathed for safe passing, or pausing when the scalpel is no longer needed. Re-engage for further intervention.

The retracting guard is designed to be activated single-handedly from the top for ambidextrous use. The rails on both sides of the handle provide guidance for guard movement and enhanced stability. The safety scalpel also has a feature to permanently lock the guard in place, which is purposed for activation at the end of a procedure. This is to avoid unintended retraction during disposal and reduces the risk of sharps injury.
