Swann-Morton were delighted to congratulate and present the annual Swann-Morton Award for Academic Excellence in Operating Department Practice, in conjunction with Sheffield Hallam University, to the 2023 winner Amy Bell.

Amy became the 14th winner and recipient of the Sheffield Hallam ODP Award, which was presented upon her recent visit to Swann-Morton. Amy, alongside her family and Lecturer in ODP and Practice Placement Lead, Jennifer Ward, were provided with a tour of the Swann-Morton manufacturing facility.

Amy, who is from Sheffield, started her journey to Operating Department Practice at Eckington school with GCSEs and then progressed to All Saints Sixth form where she undertook her A Levels. Amy then completed her Operating Department Practice Degree at Sheffield Hallam University, graduating with First-Class honours. Justifiably proud of her achievements, Amy stated that she thoroughly enjoyed her time at Sheffield Hallam University and whilst Operating Department Practice is not a well-known profession, each year progress is made within the field. Amy actively encourages people to research ODPs and consider undertaking this rewarding profession.

Swann-Morton would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Amy once again on her academic achievements. Amy is currently enjoying her new role as an anaesthetics ODP at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield and is looking forward to her future in this career.
