Water Testing
Water testing is carried out in accordance with the following standards:
Report on Public Health and Medical Subjects No.71-The Microbiology of water (1994) part 1 - Drinking Water.
The Bacteriological Examination of Drinking Water Supplies (1982)
HTM 2030 Washer - Disinfectors Validation and Verification.
Water can be tested from a wide range of sources including manual washing water, handwashing facilities, Reverse Osmosis (RO), water from washer/disinfector or autoclave equipment. During site visits, where possible, the technician will measure the temperature of the water supplies.
Water can be tested for viable organisms and for Endotoxins.
For viable organism testing, two types of media are used:
-Membrane Lauryl Sulphate Broth (MLSB) which will grow coliforms and other bacteria, which may be found in contaminated water samples.
-Tryptone Soya Agar (TSA) which will give a total viable count (TVC) in the water sample.
-For Endotoxin testing, the Limulus Abemocyte Lysate (LAL) gel clot technique is used, as described in HTM 2030.
This test can be carried out as part of a site visit or can be performed remotely by you.
